Youth Reporting Project: Marine Traffic in the Arctic
ATMI youth reporter Quinn White (left) collects audio as World Wildlife Fund’s Elizabeth Kruger drops a hydrophone into Golovin Bay with the help of Golovin student Casey Williams.
ATMI visited Golovin and Wales—two villages along the Bering Strait—to learn about the potential for increased ship traffic in the Arctic. The team dropped a hydrophone into the Bering Strait, detecting and recording sea mammals as they migrated north through the strait in the spring.
