Chevak and Hooper Bay (ATMI conducts media training)

On May 15, ATMI staff traveled to Chevak and Hooper Bay, Alaska to teach teens and adults to produce their own radio pieces. The trip was made possile by the World Wildlife Fund and the National Science Foundation.

ATMI teens taught teens at Chevak High School and leaders from the Boys and Girls Club to produce vox pops, which are audio pieces that include several voices speaking about a certain topic. The students and adults in Chevak produced pieces on Eskimo dancing, the village landfill, chewing gum at school and the impacts of drugs and alcohol on the community. And one student even recorded some rap music.
